⚫ We would like to present you the book Marriage Halls directly in one of these jewels. In Bratislava's Zichy Palace on Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m.
Marriage halls are like preserves of time. Just open it and one finds 50 years of art and design. In the Zichy palace, we will personally introduce you to this heritage. And we will also talk more about the history of wedding ceremonies and wedding fashion.

The book Wedding Halls shows luxurious solutions marriage halls throughout Slovakia. Some had almost everything custom designed. From handles to hoop trays. They included works of art and design of great value. And although they were created during the period of state socialism, among their authors there were even those who were forbidden to exhibit.
Maybe they would have remained unnoticed if it were not for the research of Sabina Jankovičová. We asked photographer Matej Hakár to visit the best ones - from Bratislava to Sabinov, from Pernek to Čabraďský Vrbovok, from Strečno to Lazy pod Makytou. In the book, you will also find a contribution by ethnologist Zuzana Beňušková on the meaning of ceremonies, as well as an overview of wedding fashion by curator Zuzana Dedík Šidlíková. We thank everyone who provided us with photos of their family's wedding dresses.
Many municipalities in Slovakia have no idea that they own works of great cultural and financial value. Sometimes it happens that they throw them out and replace them with cheap furniture and a floating floor. We want to believe that this book will help change that. Because wedding halls were created in a collaboration that will never happen again.
