Slovakian multi-instrumentalist Michaela Antalová and Norwegian double bassist Adrian Myhr combine the traditional folk music of their countries with field recordings, creating a new music world. The Oslo-based duo, who have extensive experience in avant-garde, classical, improvisation and jazz, recorded their debut album in their own home during the lockdown. The meditative composition Bells features a harmonium, field recordings of crickets and the singing of a Slovak male choir. Their latest album, Sing Nightingale, released these days by the Mappa label, is a captivating folk-experimental work. Featuring recordings of a nightingale singing and experimenting with various instruments from around the world, the duo explores their rich sonic textures and tonal possibilities.
