We are really excited to announce a unique opportunity! 🤩 Do we take you to the first anthological exhibition of the Catalan artist Antoni Clavé in his hometown, an exhibition that not only pays tribute to his life, but also explores his impact on European art.
did you know that, despite his forced exile in Paris, did he always take Barcelona to his heart? ❤️
Format in the Llotja de Barcelona with Felix Mestres, Josep Mongrell and Ángel Ferrant, at the end of the Civil War he went into exile in France, where he lived until his death, first in Perpignan, then in Paris and Saint Tropez; From there he gained extensive international recognition. A painter, engraver and sculptor, he was associated with the so -called Paris School, together with Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Joan Miró or Antonio Saura.
It is difficult to classify the work of a man for whom there were no formal, intellectual or political limits. His first art productions were intimate pieces that tended to abstraction. He then evolved into a more expressionist style, using techniques such as reliefs, collages with bugged papers, assembling, engraving and also painting.
This exhibition is a perfect opportunity to connect with a genius of the 20th century through more than 100 masterpieces that travel through different cities that marked their lives: Barcelona, Paris, Tokyo and New York. It is the ideal occasion to delve into his vision, to see how he traveled from painting to sculpture, and why a critic described him as "a craftsman in the noblest sense of the term".
