We’ve spent two years exploring butoh and butoh-informed practices as a strategy for contemporary performance making. 13 workshops and 3 making processes and 6 performances later, it’s time to celebrate and say goodbye — at least to this phase of the project.
Before we sink into the sweet release of the festive season, join us for a digital hangout and launch of the Butoh in Contemporary Performance project archive and digital resource, featuring documentation of all six performances presented as part of this project, along with transcripts of post-show discussions, studio notes, provocations and points of departure from lead artists Michiyasu Furutani, Yuka Negoro and Daniel Somerville.
Whether you’ve attended the whole series or are only discovering us now, drop in, have a look around and say hello. This project may be coming to an end, but we’re still thinking about what’s next for the community of practice that has grown up around it.
