What can culture do?
Culture is not only film, theater and fine arts, but also neighborhood celebrations, community activities and revitalization of public space. It is part of our daily lives, it deepens our relationship with the place we love, it builds our identity. The book What can culture do? is the result of long-term research by David Kašpar, who worked as an independent cultural producer, director of the Prague 14 cultural contribution organization, organizer of the festival about art in public space Street for Art, university teacher at DAMU and currently as deputy mayor of the Prague 10 district. It offers Czech and foreign examples of good and bad practice as well as insight into cultural planning.

The book is published with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the State Cultural Fund of the Czech Republic and the Czech Architecture Foundation. The publication was created at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague as part of a project supported by Institutional Support for the long-term conceptual development of a research organization, which was provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2024.
