About event
Discussion on how dignity should not be a privilege, but a matter of course
Guests:
Vlasta Urbanová, director of the Prague non-profit organization Lemniskáta - life without barriers, which creates job opportunities and a safe environment for people with disabilities. Partner environment, empathetic and friendly. He also cooperates with the organization Human in danger.
Richard Kamenský, poet, photographer and painter of everyday details; author of the haiku collections Po zbera and Tao Haiku. He started in Lemniskát as a client, today he is an employee. His poetry and work grow out of silence and sincerity, in which he touches the essence of life.
Jarka Novotná, photographer and finalist of the Czech Press Photo (2025) competition, who has been collaborating for a long time with people from sheltered workshops on joint photographic projects. Her photos capturing depth, closeness and humanity will be shown during the event.
Fedor Gál, sociologist, writer, civil activist, will talk with the guests.
Through this event, we want to look at life from a perspective that is often less visible — the life of people with health disabilities – physical, mental, psychological. Not to talk about limitations, but about values: about dignity, empathy, belonging and what it means to live well - even in vulnerability. This topic also brings its own moral and ethical dilemmas. We will also talk about them.
Accompanying film screening:
Unworthy of Life (2016, 24 min., directed by Veronika Homolová Tóthová). Documentary film about the T4 euthanasia program - the Nazi extermination of people with disabilities.
Photo author: Jarka Novotná
The event will take place at two times - at 8.30 and 12.00 - preferably for students, but it is also open to the general public.
