About event
"Life passes you by in the blink of an eye. It goes by so fast."
Hills, ocean and endless roads winding through the Icelandic landscape also form the backdrop for Hlynur Pálmason's fourth feature film – this time about the quiet disappearance of love and the breakdown of marriage. The movie What's left of love? tells the story of a family of five with a dog who live an ordinary life in a small Icelandic town. The mother, a talented artist, is preparing her most extensive work. Father earns money on a fishing boat. Teenagers are lucky enough to live in perfect harmony with nature.
Normal people, normal feelings, everyday little things. Dog bathing, hikes, snow, frozen fish, wellies, seasons, killer whales, summer dresses. With his unique cinematic poetics, Pálmason shows how much value can remain from love, even when everything seemed to be gone. The main reason to see the film is clear: the female Panda won the Palm Dog award for best canine performance at Cannes for her role as a shepherd dog.
We show the film in cooperation with KVIFF.TV.

“Life passes you by in the blink of an eye. It goes by so fast.”
The hills of Iceland, the ocean, and the country’s endless roads winding through the landscape form the backdrop for Hlynur Pálmason's fourth feature film – this time about the silent disappearance of love and a marriage falling apart. The film The Love That Remains follows a family of five and their dog as they lead a completely ordinary life in a small Icelandic town. Normal people, normal feelings, ordinary little things. Dog baths, hikes, snow, frozen fish, rubber boots, the seasons, orcas, summer dresses.

Through intimate vignettes and strange occurrences, the film explores the complexities of family, love, and the impact of shared memories.
