Historian Jana Jirásková and Judaist Jiří Blažek will explain how systematic seizure of Jewish property worked during the 2nd World War. As part of the lecture, they will tell you how to determine which works of art are of the highest value, and how it has been achieved that some paintings or graphics were rescued from the Nazis. The lecturer will also talk about the research work, looking for searched for artistic subjects. Jana Jirásková studied history and religion at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. In the center for documentation of property transfers of cultural goods victims II. World War II has been working since 2013 and focuses on mechanisms of confiscation and restitution of the property of the victims of World War II. Since 2023 she has been the director of this institution. Jiří Blažek studied Judaistics at Charles University and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Since 2008 he has been working as a translator, editor and publisher of Jewish religious literature, and as a guide and lecturer in the Jewish Museum in Prague.
