Collageworkshop: verhalen uit je menstruatiecyclus

The menstrual cycle: half of the world has one, but there is little talk about it.

In the Open Lab in which we close the Rotterdam year of the woman, we therefore make room for the cycle. To talk about it and to use it as inspiration. Artist Merel Smitt gives a cool and accessible collage workshop about the menstrual cycle. The workshop is for anyone who menstruates, has tangled or has yet to start. All ages are welcome!

We start sharing stories and experiences about our menstrual cycles. In small groups we ask questions, listen to each other and bring different experiences together. Because every cycle is different. Sometimes it is hard work, sometimes it almost unnoticed. Sometimes we prefer to keep it hidden, sometimes we get strength out of it. This workshop is in any case an invitation to let go of the taboo and to exchange experiences in a safe setting.

From these conversations you will get started with paper, color and shape to make a collage that depicts your personal cycle. You don't have to be an artist: it's not about perfection, but about what you want to show. At the end of the workshop everyone goes home with their own image, as an ode to your cycle and what it means for you.

The atmosphere is light and relaxed. Whether you want to talk a lot or prefer to listen, there is room for your way of participating.
