Four of the best slam poets in the country meet at Berlin's Comedy Slam to read their funniest texts into the audience's diaphragm. In two rounds they shake your abs. Workout for the diaphragm! And you decide on the funniest text by applause. At the end of the evening, you'll be lying on the floor laughing and one of the comedy slammers will be taking home the audience-voted triumph.

What defines the comedy slam
Just like with poetry slams, the focus here is on text and performance. The rules for those performing: 8 minutes time limit, no props, only self-written texts. And the audience decides who wins the evening. But unlike usual, the Comedy Slam Berlin only features funny texts: literature to make you laugh.
What distinguishes the Comedy Slam from the usual stand-up show that populates Berlin's comedy clubs? It's not just a series of jokes here.
