About event

Comfort IS… - Culinary Workshops About Comfort Food🍝

We invite you to a series of culinary workshops that will be guided to our resident, Polish artist, Jagoda, who has long been involved in food and memory relationships in her work. During the two workshops that will be interconnected, we will go on a trip to the past with our taste buds, remind our comfortable meals and finally move to the “kitchen” together where we prepare dinner together. Umami taste - both are the main flavors found in human breast milk. Scientists assume that our reactions to fragrances (including the smells of food) are almost completely learned and depend on memory, although some of these reactions appear very soon. Finally, memory plays a central role in explaining almost all aspects of our dietary behavior and preferences. Much of the literature dealing with diet - especially the one outside the anthropology - is based on the idea of sentimentality to the past and considers food to be a kind of box in which we put our memories of childhood and family. However, nostalgia can be understood differently. Not like experiencing the emotional past, but as a desire for times and places that one has not actually experienced. For example, nostalgic memories of the so -called. Comfort food may not always be based on a truly happy childhood; Instead, they can serve to create a fictitious story of such survival. With sensory memory, we will discuss the meals that bring us joy and sense of security. The exchange of personal stories about comfort experience will be preceded by reading texts examining the relationship between food and memory. The culmination of the first meeting will be the creation of the personal recipes of our favorite comfort meals. From them, Jagoda will then create a digital publication that will serve as an archive of our meeting. 10: 00-12: 00

During the Two Workshops, which will be interconnected, we will take and trip into the paste together using our taste buds, recalling our comfort foods, and Finally Moving Together Into The "Kitchen" Where We Will Create and Dinner ToGether. Workshop🔎

at the outset, It’s Worth Noting That We Are Born With An Innate Preference for Sweet and Umami Flavors - Both of Behich Are the Primary Tastes Found in Human Breast Milk. Researchers Suggest That Our Responses To Odors (Including the Smells of Food) are Almost Entirely Learned and Rely On Memory, Although Some of Thes Responses Emerge Very Early On. Ultimately, Memory Plays and Central Role in Explaining Nearly Every Facet of Our Eating Behavors and Preferences. MUCH OF THE LITERATURE ON FOOD - Particularly Outside the Field of Anthropology - Draws on the Secular Idea of Sentimentality for A Bygone Past, Treating Food As and Vesel for Childhood and Family Memories. Howver, Nostalgia Can Also Be Undestood Differently: Not As the Reliving of An Emotional Past, But as a Yearning For Times and Places One Has Never Actally Experienced. The Nostalgic Recollection of Comfort food, for instance, does not always Stem from and Genuinely Happy Childhood; INSTEAD, IT CAN SERVE TO CONSTRUCT A FICTERAL NARRIRIVE OF DRY AND CHILDHOOD. Together with the Participants, We Will Use Sensory Memory To Discuss That Bring Us Joy and A Sense of Security. The Exchange of Personal Stories About Experiences of Comfort will be Preceded by Readings of Texts This Explore The Relationship Between Food and Memory. The Culmination of this session will be the Creation of Personal Recipes for Favorite Comfort Foods. These Collected Recipes Will Form a Digital publication, serving as an archive of our meeting.
