Common pARTs – a specialist day on artistic community work

About event
What would it mean to work on a (free) art that creates mediation and on a mediation that is (free) art? Can production practices that address their audience not (primarily) as visitors or consumers, but rather as neighbors or cooperation partners, be described using the term artistic community work? Which specific formats have long since undermined the distinction between art and its communication, how is experimentation currently taking place in different artistic production contexts and where do we hear music of the future?
At the specialist day in cooperation with the Neukölln Opera, we want to devote ourselves to a topic that we, among other things, as the Performing Arts Program Berlin. with the audience formats of Theaterscoutings Berlin, the Free Scene Days of the Performing Arts Berlin and the community and neighborhood projects: different types of dialogue and tangible collaboration between artistic production contexts, diverse audiences and other social actors.
With experts from the practice of (free) performing arts and related fields, cultural administration and politics, we want good practice examples share and reflect on successful community work: From outreach measures such as artistic interventions in the neighborhood to participation offers such as play clubs and corresponding productions as well as various workshop formats to the handover of resources such as rooms to communities and their active responsibility in program design.
Along with this, we want to ask about the potential of active cultural participation by different stakeholder groups, both with regard to production processes and aspects of the common good, as well as the practical pitfalls in the Implementation, according to the associated institutional transformations and the conditions for success of corresponding artistic mediation and community work.
The specialist day begins in the afternoon and leads through impulses, open discussion formats and in-depth, practice-oriented workshops to a joint exchange in the evening. It is aimed particularly at producers, mediators as well as artists and other actors in the independent scene.
