How is artificial intelligence changing musical creation? What are the limits of collaboration between humans and machines? Will the uniqueness of human creativity continue in the future? These and other questions are the focus of “Composer in the Loop”, a day-long event organized by the Music Fund in the Radialsystem.
“Composer in the Loop” provides insights into AI-supported composition processes. As part of the Music Fund's scholarship program for artificial intelligence, ten musicians will spend a whole year studying the opportunities and risks of AI-based composition. The focus is on individual artistic positions that counter the largely uncontrollable spread of corporate AI with creative alternatives.
In short live performances and installations, artistic strategies are presented that explore new ways of dealing with AI in music and at the same time reflect the far-reaching social implications of AI technology. A special focus is on open source tools that underline the independent, experimental spirit of the scholarship holders.
