Escarteen Sisters is a special string quartet in DUO shape: two sisters, an viola and a cello. They sing and play at the same time, whereby voice and instrument constantly complement and challenge each other. Their music is characterized by the intimate and pure interaction of two sisters who have been making music together since childhood. Their multicultural background - half Flemish, half Spanish, born in Mexico and Belgium - is the backbone of their artistic work. In their latest compositions, room musical textures flow together with folk influences, African rhythms, jazz harmonies and original texts in different languages.
