How many times has a woman felt unsafe walking down the street at night alone, on an almost empty public transport or on an unlit street? How many times have you been the target of harassment in public spaces without receiving help? And how many faced urban obstacles due to reduced mobility or health problems?
We are talking about all women: racialized, trans, immigrants, LGBT… Women who use public space to work (such as street vendors) , informal caregivers, street artists, sex workers) face daily safety challenges related to visibility and exposure.
Have we ever stopped to reflect on how public space is NOT designed for all people?
Public space, as a place of interaction and coexistence, can also be the stage for insecurities that disproportionately affect women. In this round of conversation under the heading Where is Women's Place, organized by Equid'Artes in partnership with Rádio Trauma, we will discuss how urbanism, architecture and public policies can promote greater gender equity and security.
Join us to reflect and debate how to make cities more inclusive and safe for all women.
