In the abandoned mines of eastern Slovakia, the echoes of pickaxes resonate, acidic drainage seeps into rivers and heavy metals migrate through the soil at an invisible pace – under the surface, a slow violence takes place, inscribing itself into the landscape and life its inhabitants. Authors Lorena Solís Bravo and Beáta Kolbašovská transform the invisible into the audible, creating a space where human and non-human, scientific and mythological meet in an act of joint creation.
