About event
To the 35th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic invites the Ukrainian community, Slovak friends and partners of Ukraine to a special screening of the documentary film "Second Wind", which will take place on August 23 at Kino Lumière. After what they experienced in the war, they set out to conquer Kilimanjaro - the highest peak in Africa - and this ascent turns into a path to physical and internal recovery, a return to an active life and a fight for their own future.
On the eve of Independence Day, these stories of heroes remind us that the freedom of Ukraine has the face of specific people who protect it, pay a high price for it and find the strength to move on.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with director Maria Kondakova and the hero of the film. We will talk about life after severe injuries, physical and psychological recovery, the power of mutual support and the role of society in returning veterans to an active life.
The following will join the conversation:
▪️ Maria Kondakova, French-Ukrainian film director, in person
▪️ Oleksandr Mikhov, major, commander of the combat group OZSP "OMEGA", online
The discussion will be held in Ukrainian with translation in Slovak.
