ABOUT THE CRYSTAL FIGHTERS
The Crystal Fighters – Sebastian Pringle (lead vocals, guitar), Gilbert Vierich (electronics, guitars, percussion) and Graham Dickson (guitar, txalaparta) – have always tried to open up to the world, with a strong concept of fusion that is inherent to them. But when the world changed, they changed too. Separated on different continents by the pandemic, the band turned inland and began to understand what was missing. Tuning in to the energy of their first recordings, the new album Light+ is their most inspired, dynamic and addictive statement to date, the sound of a completely renewed band.
The goal was simple: give fans a new definition of the Crystal Fighters by returning to their roots. As a result, LIGHT+ is packed with ideas – from rave moments to tropical pop, cumbia accents to delicious pop melodies. “We wanted to get to the roots of who we are and what we felt when we were starting out,” says the vocalist. “When we just wanted to make music for ourselves and make people dance at our concerts.”
Old friends Charlie Hugall and Luke Smith returned to produce the new album, with additional help on the electronic side by Ghost Culture – whose collaborative album with Falle Nioke became a mutual soundtrack to the group's lockdown activities. Finally released, Light+ feels natural and completely true to the essence of Crystal Fighters.
The LIGHT+ album marks the band's return to the sound that their global fanbase knows and loves – filled with songs that promise to become firm festival classics for years to come, it is a celebration of life and the light that shines within each of us in the darkness.
