About event
Slovak premiere of a new drama production on the Small Stage of the NDKE - a tragicomedy by a contemporary Hungarian playwright about the true reality of village life, where people live as hard and strict as a mine
Life in a remote village has always been hard and poor. But poverty does not lose honor. But closing the breadwinner mine disproves this age-old wisdom. Unemployed Ivan knows his stuff. In addition, she has been taking care of her dying father for two years, who somehow is not going to the next world. Not even Ivan's sister Ilonka, who got a taste of city life for a while and brings new energy to the hopelessness, will change anything. Even the local doctor Michal has gradually worked his way up from promoting a healthy lifestyle to alcoholism. But he has enough work: suicides in the village seem to be increasing. What is the role of the neighbor Elias in all this? Why does his wife Irma bring compotes to Ivan? And why did Slovak television come to the village? Is there still a chance for change or is it a burdensome legacy of generations?
