About event
🦥 Join us for joint discussions on non-growth topics!
Topic for the next meeting on Tuesday, 10/29 at 6:30 p.m. in Tře ócáscé:
✨ Can we have democracy at work? ✨
reading on the topic of non-hierarchically managed companies

Also write down the last sixth meeting this year, on Tuesday 10/12 from 18:30 in Třech ocásce.

In the fifth reading workshop, we will focus on the possibilities of democracy at work and different models of such management. Only one of them is the self-management model, which we also practice in our organization NaZemi, where our non-growth team operates - after all, we also help other organizations with the introduction of self-management, as you can find at https://nerust.cz/provazime-seberizenim/

Non-hierarchical organizational structures already applied today in various companies and schools offer an alternative to traditional hierarchy and authoritarianism, which still prevail in most workplaces.
Hierarchical models are based on the assumption that workers are lazy, motivated only by external stimuli (mainly money), and unable to make important decisions independently. Such assumptions about people justify the structure of organizations that is based on hierarchy, supervision and command. And on a lot of female bosses, bosses and managers who know how to make the right decisions, assign appropriate tasks and adequately control subordinates. If we want people to work in such an environment, we must either force them or constantly motivate them.
Other models rely on trust in the skills and will of employees, on their ability to self-manage and take responsibility. The main principles include the decentralization of power, the involvement of all employees in decision-making processes and the absence of direct control from above. Such models allow us to practice democracy not only in our free time, but also where we spend most of our lives, namely at work.

. ⊹ . ہ˖ . Non-growth reading workshops are held regularly once every six weeks. Together, we want to learn about concrete examples through which we can begin to promote a non-growth transformation for a free, equal and interspecies solidarity world.
During these reading meetings, we want to deepen our analysis of today's crises and their causes and become familiar with concrete functional solutions from the world to do things that are meaningful and effective within our activities or requirements. In short, we want to strengthen our capacity to contribute to a societal transformation here in the Czech Republic. We believe that setting aside time for joint study and discussion is crucial for this purpose, so we invite you all to join us. The implementation of the reading workshops is also made possible by the European Solidarity Corps of the European Union, which supported our proposed plan. The reading club takes place with the financial support of the European Union as part of the Post-growth summer school project. Thanks!
