About event
🟡 K 80. The anniversary of the end of the Second World War we prepared in the National Film Archive the thematic cycle Restart 45. In the Ponrepo cinema we will introduce films made in the first years after the war, when the national Czechoslovak cinematography was transformed under the influence of a new political organization.
We will start the cycle with the newly digitized film Heaven Riders (Jindřich Polak, 1968). The war drama is watched by the daily deployment of the International Crew Wellington, in which they fought side by side Czechoslovaks, Poles, British and Canadians. The film resembles the stories of airmen who have encountered political persecution and social injustices after the war.
In the next part of the program entitled May 1945, the lens of Czech amateur filmmakers will present a half -hour film of the May Revolution 1945, composed of authentic footage of the economist and official of the United Nations, Václav Kostelecký, which he acquired during the May uprising in Prague's streets. The screening will also be attended by Susan Kostelecky Schulz, the daughter of Václav Kostelecký, who shares personal memories of the father's work and his passion for the film. The program will also include a ten -minute film Our Revolution Bohumil Veselý. The events at the end of the war will also commemorate the quarter -hour film Liberation of Prostějov Václav Ševčík and two shorter anonymous films from Ostrava and Hořovice. Tomáš Jakl from the Military History Institute of Prague will be provided by a professional comment on projections. Entry to the event is free. Through the lens of czech amateur filmmakers
