About event
Czech Moot Court Competition for students of all law faculties in the Czech Republic is here again after a year! 🗣️
As part of this competition, you will be able to try out how court proceedings work, write a lawsuit on behalf of a fictitious client or even get to the oral hearing itself, which will include, for example, the questioning of a witness! In the simulated court hearing, emphasis is mainly placed on the students' legal knowledge and negotiation or argumentation skills. The competition will therefore bring you a lot of new experience, which you will be able to use not only as part of your studies, but also in your future profession. You can also win interesting prizes. 👀
You can apply by sending a submission (lawsuit) together with the application form, which forms Annex No. 1 of the rules, to the e-mail address [email protected] by Monday, October 28, 2024, 11:59 p.m. CET.
What is the case about?
Ms. Šarlota Švecová found herself in a difficult situation after her husband Radim, a successful manager, left her. He stopped supporting her financially, took away the donated car and plans to fire her from her job, depriving her of access to money. Despite the pre-lawsuit summons, the husband does not respond, and therefore Ms. Švecová asks you to prepare a claim for alimony.
How does the competition take place?
The competition consists of a written and an oral round. The assignment of the written round is already published on the link below, which contains fictitious factual circumstances, on the basis of which a lawsuit must be drawn up for the client. Only two-member competition teams can enter the competition, by sending an application form together with a completed application to the email [email protected] no later than Monday 28 October 2024 23.59 CET.
The four best competition teams, which emerge from the written round, proceed to the oral round, where the actual proceedings before the court will be simulated. The oral round takes place on Monday, November 25, 2024.
For the oral round, the competing teams will receive a new assignment on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, i.e. an assignment different from the assignment of the written round. The assignment of the oral round requires the competitive teams to prepare to represent both the plaintiff and the defendant in the oral hearing, as the party that the competitive team will represent in the simulated hearing will be drawn for the given competitive team only on the day of the oral round itself. The oral proceedings also add variety to the questioning of the witness.
The entire moot court, as it is set up, tests diligence within the written round, which can be given considerable attention due to the sufficient time allowance for the preparation of the lawsuit. As part of the preparation for the oral round, the teams will have to demonstrate that they are able to effectively organize their work in a short period of time and get their bearings in the case.

And what can you win? 🏆
1. place: CZK 10,000
2. place: CZK 6,000
The individual who is awarded the "Best Speaker" award by the jury in the competition will be provided with a two-week internship at the office of bpv BRAUN PARTNERS.
In addition, all participants of the oral round will receive a certificate of participation, which always looks good on a resume.
So don't hesitate and apply! 💙
