About event
Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha, who will celebrate twenty years in Prague, will perform at SaSaZ on November 21, 2024.
Breathtaking live performances and a unique sound that presents the heart of Ukrainian folklore to new generations . DakhaBrakha and their "ethnochaos" will celebrate twenty years of existence with a big European tour. On November 21, 2024, they will visit the SaSaZu club in Prague for their biggest domestic performance to date. During their career, the quartet from Kyiv's Dakh Theater has become a symbol of today's Ukraine - brave, free and independent.
Their sound combines the authenticity of Ukrainian folk songs with contemporary music, in the performance of DakhaBrakha, the drums and/or cello have as much space as hip-hop. rhythm or blues. They call the music, which is created by absorbing various folklore traditions, ethnochaos. Their concerts are always accompanied by powerful projections - this was the case two years ago in Arša in Prague, when they played in Mexico, Korea, or at festivals from Glastonbury to Pohoda or Sziget.
This Ukrainian band is considered an ambassador of the country that heroically resists Russian aggression: "DakhaBrakha for their native country, they try to light a fire in their hearts and thus spread more love... Just like the enthusiastic crowd, I shout: Glory to Ukraine!" wrote the server AlterEcho about their last performance in Prague.
“Since the beginning of the invasion, we feel a special responsibility, as if we were speaking to the world for the whole country: we thank you for your support, we ask for weapons and we share our pain. At the same time, we show you a part of the rich Ukrainian culture. Through our very existence, we are refuting the Russian narrative of one nation," reveals the reason for their intense concert performance.
In addition to the songs from the six albums that the band has released so far, songs written during the war years will also be performed in Prague. The concert will be accompanied by new projections created by Ukrainian artists and war photographers.
