British singer-songwriter Dan Croll has quickly become one of the most popular acts since his debut on Communion Records' New Faces compilation in 2012, which earned him The Guardian's New Band Of The Day indie-rock acts in Britain.
His 2014 debut album 'Sweet Disarray' peaked at number 26 in the UK Albums Chart upon release and was followed up in 2017 with the popular second LP 'Emerging Adulthood' , and the frontman thus rode the wave of recognition and fame of thousands of people from the industry.
In recent years, Dan emigrated to the United States, where he found inspiration for his third studio effort 'Grand Plan', a record that wanted to define his stay in a new country and at the same time bring a truly intimate level of storytelling to his work.
New album Fools finds British singer Dan Croll at a crossroads, helping him with warmth and wit to document recent events and decide which direction to take. Five years after a whimsical departure from his beloved Liverpool to sun-drenched L.A., which fundamentally changed the sound of his recordings. Fools asks the question - is it time to come home?
Fools skips ahead, through Covid to the end of an intense three-year relationship, the death of Dan's grandmother back in Britain and rare trips home when restrictions were in place cancelled. Sonically, it casts its nets wider - country, disco and woozy psychedelia join Carole King and James Taylor's Grand Plan nods.
Both albums were largely recorded live at the legendary Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia with Matthew E. White (Natalie Prass, Flo Morrissey, Slow Club) and his four-piece house band. This time, Dan took part in the production and played with the sounds late into the night to give the record his own stamp.
Irish folk singer Niamh Regan will provide support.
Dan Croll will be presented for the first time in the Czech Republic on 21.11. in Café V lese.
