About event
Dance composition and the body-mind
open sessions for movers, dancers, actors and musicians
The body living and experiencing through touch and gravity; is an active mover, maker and creator.
The mind perceiving through the body; illuminates our actions with awareness and impressions which carry the work further into the imagination.
While we move ourselves in the physical world, we practice noticing our mind-body connection and communication in space – time. Our work aims to highlight these connections as an environment for meaningful, poetic and perceptive dance-encounters.
A shared practice of embodyment, rhythmical awareness and composition is offered for participants who wish to engage with a sensuous, imaginative and theatrical state of performance.
Maya Matilda Carroll is a choreographer, dancer, mentor and teacher, based in Berlin/Europe since 2004. For over twenty years she has been creating independent dance work and performance, collaborating with dancers, musicians, actors, poets and visual artists. Her work evolves from her embodiment of sound/music, the detailed physicality and exploration of vocabulary in her dance. As a teacher, Maya leads master classes and workshops in Europe and abroad, extensively developing her teaching alongside her artistic work; drawn from and towards the human, social and poetic manifestation of the dancing body. www.theinstrument.org
