Gabriela Zigova's exhibition in Nová Vlna gallery in Trenčín presents her current author's book Dancing Through The Debris in the form of projections, installations, photographs and performance.
The publication is a photographic summary of the period in the life of the author, which she spent in the immediate vicinity of the communities and subcultures around the club scene. It is not a documentary capture of this scene, but a mapping of states of existence in which the subject does not separate from the community from which he grows. It represents the knowledge of a participant, not an observer. Here, Zigová works with photography as a bodily and affective medium – the images were created without distance, the camera was a direct part of her body and the individual depicted situations. Zigova's diary is situated in the night, in the body, in precarity, in friendships, in cities that have come and gone in her life. It captures the momentum of a community in survival mode. The people in her images live near an uncertain future, due to the economic and social fragility of the present.
The exhibition, which thematizes precarity not only as vulnerability, but also as a space of solidarity, joy and resistance to normative ideas of life and time, will be in the spirit of an archive of survival, a micro-history written by the body, night and collective dance through the rubble.

Gabriela Zigová's exhibition at the Nová Vlna Gallery in Trenčín presents her latest artist's book, Dancing Through The Debris, through projections, installations, photographs, and performance.
The publication offers a photographic summation of the period in the artist's life spent as a member of communities and subcultures surrounding the club scene. Rather than documenting this environment in a conventional sense, the work maps states of being in which the subject does not separate from the community she depicts. It embodies the knowledge of a participant rather than that of an observer. Here, Zigová approaches photography as a bodily and affective medium – images were created without distance; the camera functioned as a direct extension of her body and of the situations depicted. Her diary unfolds at night, in the body, in precarity, in friendships, and in cities that entered her life and then receded. It captures the momentum of a community operating in survival mode. The people in her photographs live in close proximity to an uncertain future, shaped by the economic and social fragility of the present.
The exhibition addresses precarity not only as vulnerability but also as a state of solidarity, joy, and resistance to normative conceptions of life and time. It unfolds in the spirit of an archive of survival, a micro-history written through the body, the night, and a collective dance through the debris.
The exhibition is an activity of the S koreňmi v Trenčín project, which is part of Trenčín 2026.
The project is financially supported by the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín self-governing region, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and the European union.
