About event

Daniel Herskedal - Tuba, bass trumpet/Eyolf Dale - Piano/Helge Andreas Norbakken - Drums

This time the endowed composer Daniel Herskedal will return to Prague in the trio line -up. Together with pianist Eyolf Dal and drummer Helg Andreas Norbakken will perform on 14 May in the Great Hall of the Prague New Town Hall. If the author of the Air album said that it processes "themes of hope and strive for a better future", we can be sure that we will feel the feelings of the concert performance of the new repertoire. Herskedal's dreamy music brings comfort, but it is not a false idyll. The thought concept of the Movements of Air program was also to "capture emotional contrasts, to seek a balance between good and evil, peace and war". This is also indicated by the names of compositions, which are likely to be heard in Prague: The Olive Branch (olive sprig) or Peace River Crossing. He wrote about his extremely successful and successful Czech premiere in the New Town Hall Hall in July 2023: “In terms of variety of sound spectrum, Herskedal as if he did not know or rather did not accept the alleged limits of his instrument. In addition, the performance of the high positions and the unusualness of HerSkedal's tunes. ”

, however Both of his teammates are among the great personalities of the current Scandinavian scene. At the same time, they are well coordinated with Herskedal, playing with him on the Slow Eastbound Train (2015). Alternatively, as a soloist with a contemporary big band behind his back, for example, let's hear the excellent album Tree House (2014) released under the auspices of Albatrosh & Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Dale's latest on the albums published projects are orchestral and classicized: Piano concert Echoes of Oslo (2023), filmed together with Telemark Chamber Orchestra, and The Space Between Two Notes (2024) with Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
Norbakken (*1965, Tromsø), a graduate of the Trondheim music conservatory, is one of the top Norwegian Sidemans. His long -term cooperation is appreciated by the legendary Samá singer Mari Boine, with whose band he also performed in our country, original singer -songwriter Kari Bremnes and pianist Jon Balke. Or, outside Scandinavia, such as the Portuguese jazz diva Maria João. For the label ECM, Norbakken made an album with the famous American trumpeter Jon Hassel (Last Night the Moon Came Dropping Its Clothes in the Street, 2009).

The most interesting and original personalities of the current Scandinavian scene. He earned the spurs under the baton of British bandleader Djang Bates, cooperated with Mario Nespím, but above all enchanted the audience and criticism with his own projects and albums. Whether solo or in various unexpected sets. Including a duo with a player on the temple organ Magnus Mtsnes Myhr (Desert Lighthouse title, 2021). He has also seen his genre of unusual commercial success, such as the unusual modification of the evergreen San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in You Hair), filmed for the American film drama The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019).
