’… The violinist, whose soft tone has a built -in floating quality, plays at a rapid speed or lets notes hang in the air with such an urgency that the time seems to stand still.’ - John Shand, Sydney Morning, Sydney Morning Herald
The Daniel Weltlinger Quartet is headed by the internationally known Australian violinist, composer and producer Daniel Weltlinger (Lulo Reinhardt Latin-Swing-Projekt / Karsten Troyke / Moka Efti Orchestra). The conceptual idea behind this ensemble mainly focuses on original compositions and improvisations based on real situations and stories, with elements of Klezmer, Eastern European folk music, jazz and free improvisation to be used in order to clearly describe these stories. May 3, 2019 at DMG Germany and Rectify Records - tells the story of Weltlinger's violin from Szolnok, which he inherited from his grandfather born in Hungary, who had this instrument with him between 1920 and 1922 on foot from Hungary to France. The violin survived the transport to the wide world and was brought back from the continent to Europe at the end of 2017 after around 75 years of absence. The Szolnok album follows the historical line of this instrument and its whereabouts to this day, and it represents a story about time, continuity and, above all, a positive understanding of progress.
