DAS KITSCH
05.12.2024
Bad Neustadt, Yay
Entrance: 7 p.m.
Start: 8 p.m.
The Boys from back then have grown up, they still smoke in the rain, wallow in world-weariness, but something has changed: the cold north wind is blowing madness into the city they are alive, and the gentle synths are mixed up by a hard pounding drums that always surprises the rhythm at just the right moment. In addition, this singing, boyish and melancholic, but there is a hint of maturity in it, which tenderly transfigures the melancholy, laconically celebrates the pain - Martin Schenk's lyrics conjure up images in the head and the sun on the face. Why not? “Does it always have to be thunder and lightning?” chants the frontman and Niklas Rehle’s exalted bass performs capers. Then Simon Kerler laughs on the drums and hits it again. Kitsch pulls out its usual playful stops, but never just superficially, showing the great in the small, the whole in the broken. And your legs dance before you even notice it.
