David Dorůžka/Robert Fischmann/ Martin Novák

The trio of guitarist David Dorůžka, flutist and singer Robert Fischmann and drum instruments and percussion players were created at the end of 2020 to create new music on the border of World Music and jazz improvisation to develop the musical traditions of various regions of Europe and the Middle East. The formation released its debut album called Gilgul (Hebrew word for cycle or cycle) in September 2023 at Animal Music. The CD immediately met with stormy responses to the public and experts in the Czech Republic and abroad, became the winner of the Angel Award in the category Jazz, winner of the Czech Jazz Harvest Czech Radio, found in 7th place in the World Music Charts Europe ranking. The jazzport.cz server wrote that "in concentrated listening you can feel that music is penetrating the heart. And that he will blast his heart ..." and rated the album with five asterisks. The new group excels in unprecedentedly original concept and sound, based on both unusual instrumentation and the fact that players work with extraordinary freedom with both author and traditional material. And so it is easy to say that traditional Chasidian songs are alternated with metalcor passages and melodies from medieval Spain can hear side by side with the inspirations of the New York Downtown scene.
