David Molnár (* 1976) was born in Hradec Králové. He moved from Eastern Bohemia to Prague. It is one of the rare examples of contemporary domestic poetry. Both through creation and a solitary approach to literary work. In 2016, the Polí5 publishing house published the collection Under the Hoofs of the Sun, The Virtues of the Cursed is his second book of poems.

Life is beautiful, even when you are at the bottom. You just have to see the beauty. David Molnár can describe it in poetic language. No verses to caress. Nor any of the way poetry is written today to gain critical acclaim. That David Molnár has scenes in his poems that we know from Charles Bukowski? The important thing is that his poetics is unmistakable. "It's a terrible cliché but I play Beethoven," and "like a miracle there's a couple of bottles lying around inside, roll to the left today and roll to the right." David Molnár lives and writes about the adventures you will encounter on the sidewalk, where the bloody consequences of New Year's fireworks are lying around, in a pub where the waitress pours you a few beers out of sheer sympathy, outside the door of an apartment whose rent has run out. They are poems about the periphery of the city and the soul. And also about love in these settings. "I only walk through passages on the paths of medieval whores." If you are not afraid to move from the comfortable terrarium of hairstyles and consumerism to the swaying barge of the life of the "damned", David Molnár is the poet for you. (Karel Škrabal)
