About event
Artists association Arti et Amicitiae and the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK), in collaboration with Pictoright, present an afternoon about the lawsuit against Meta and the battle for fair compensation for image makers.
After social media platforms have made a lot of money from the images of others for years without paying for them, there is now a law that protects image makers against this. In short, the implementation law of the new Copyright Directive states that social media platforms are responsible for the material posted and shared on their platforms. And that they must enter into discussions with rights holders of copyrighted material to obtain permission.
But do those social media platforms do that too? And what can you do yourself as an image maker?
Vincent van den Eijnde, director Pictoright, will discuss this in more detail during the meeting. He knows better than anyone what new developments there are and what we can expect from social media. A David and Goliath battle that concerns all image makers active on social media platforms. Very important to know what your rights are and how you can best safeguard them. Be there!
The afternoon will be led byPaul Dikker, Arti member, BBK member and board member of Pictoright on behalf of the visual arts sector.
What can you expect?
