Event by: Galerie Rudolfinum
Location: Marina Ristorante, Alšovo nábřeží, Praha 1
About event
We invite you to the debate between architect and author of poetic texts Pavla Melková, poet, columnist and translator Petr Borkovec and poet, writer and literary historian Petr Hruška entitled How can poetry contribute to a more sensitive perception of the environment around us?, which takes place on Thursday, November 21 at 19:00. The debate will take place in the exposition of the Antony Gormley / Pavla Melková exhibition.
𖡎 Entry is free.
Poetry at the Antony Gormley / Pavla Melková exhibition depicts images perception of the environment, the drawing becomes a silent poetry of the same perception. The exhibition develops the themes of the book The Gravitational Field of the Unspeakable. In the gallery, however, poetry takes on a new position of spatial presentation (i.e. the real physical presence of words in space), not mere representation (of space - environment), as is the case in the book.
Where are the overlaps between the two disciplines , between verbal and visual expression? What are their possibilities and limits in communicating the incommunicable? And above all - why is the presence of poetry in our lives important, and how can poetry relating to the environment contribute to a more sensitive and deeper perception of the world around us? This will be the theme of the evening, which, in addition to the debate, will also include a reading of poetry by participating authors in the exhibition area.
