📌 In a world of multiple crises, curator Fatoş Üstek opens the topic of the future of art institutions and examines their innovative functioning models. It emphasizes inclusivity, sustainability and resilience. Üstek is behind the FRANK Fair Artist Pay initiative, which promotes fair remuneration for work in the art sector. In his new book, he also describes the changes that gallery operations will have to go through in order to maintain their social status and relevance in the future.

📌 Fatoş Üstek is an important voice on the contemporary art scene. She works in London, is the author of the book The Art Institution of Tomorrow, Reinventing the Model (2023) and also the curator of major exhibitions and biennials such as Frieze Sculpture in London and Cascading Principles Expansions within Geometry, Philosophy and Interference in Oxford. She was the director of the Liverpool Biennial or the Roberts Institute of Art. In addition to exhibitions (Fig-2 50 exhibitions 50 weeks, 2015, ICA), she has prepared a number of festivals (Art Night 2017 London, 11th Liverpool Biennial, 10th Gwangju Biennial, South Korea) and realizations in public space (Nathan Coley, Liverpool, 2020; Do Ho Suh, London, 2018-20. ). She is a member of the jury of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize and a recognized expert thanks to her research and publication activities (Curating Companion, Blackwell, 2020). Together with artists Anne Hardy and Lindsay Seers, she is the founder of FRANK Fair Artist Pay.

📌 Join us for *The Art Institution of Tomorrow*, the debate and presentation by Fatoş Üstek, which examines innovative models to future-proof art institutions through inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience. A renowned curator and writer, Üstek offers insights into her new book, presenting an actionable vision to reshape institutional practices for the next generation of artists and audiences. The event will also feature an in-depth presentation on FRANK Fair Artist Pay, a pioneering initiative co-founded by Üstek to advocate for fair artist compensation and equitable practices within the arts.

📌 Fatoş Üstek argues that there is a "world of crises" at different scales and intensities and that the current systems of art institutions struggle to meet these demands. With this new book, she proposes a new model built on an extensive study of nonprofit visual arts organizations and the creative industries at large. Incorporating interviews with more than 50 international institutional leaders from throughout the sector, the book outlines the transformative changes that art institutions must undergo to maintain their relevance for generations to come.

Her projects span mid-to-large scale nonprofit exhibitions, public art commissions with artists like Nathan Coley and Do Ho Suh, and initiatives like FRANK Fair Artist Pay, which she co-founded to advocate for bettering fair practice in the arts in the UK .Üstek's contributions extend to publishing curatorial thought, writing for art publications, and hosting international seminars and workshops. Her advisory roles include serving as Chair of New Contemporaries and advisory board member for the Extra Extra Magazine and Urbane Kuenste Ruhr.
