About event
Step into our country's magical history and follow in the footsteps of witches from the past to the present. Did our ancestors burn innocent women, or was there some truth to superstitions about witches? Did witches really exist? What is the difference between black, white and gray magic? And what about witchcraft today? The lecture by the leading Czech ethnologist, folklorist, cultural anthropologist and author of the bestselling book series The Black Ambulance, Petr Janeček, will present the history of witchcraft in an engaging way with an emphasis on the Czech countries and Europe. He will talk about the basic types of magic and the principles of their operation, about the development of witchcraft across continents and cultures, and about the differences between witchcraft and wizardry. We will also take a closer look at the history of Czech trials with an emphasis on the authentic statements of their victims, and we will certainly not forget the trials in Velké Losiny in Jesenice, known from the film The Witch's Hammer, or the American Salem. Are you ready for the magic of engaging storytelling? 🧙🔥🌕🕯️
