About event
Easter symbols in the homes of our ancestors and their restoration
Guided tour in the permanent exhibition of the Ethnographic Institute of the Moravian Museum devoted to the depiction of Easter symbols in traditional folk fine arts. It is accompanied by curator Šárka Prokešová and restorer Karolína Macháčková. But they are also the greatest and most mysterious Christian holidays associated with the mysticism of Christ's death and its resurrection. Our ancestors honored this message about the victims and redemption. Christ's Passion story was depicted on paintings, sculptures, as assembly in bottles, wax, ceramics, holy pictures, etc. and we will show such creations.
restoration of artifacts The same is true of objects that directly or indirectly refer to the Easter period. For example, we will introduce visitors to the production and restoration of Easter eggs, or show the individual steps of the restoration intervention of polychrome sculptures directly on the crucifixion scene, which also carries its own personal story.
