Against a backdrop of rising global uncertainty and growing concerns over democratic resilience, the European Observatory on Memories (EUROM) will host the 8th edition of its flagship annual meeting at the University of Barcelona’s Historic Building.
Titled “Democracy at Stake? Memory in Times of Uncertainty”, this year’s gathering will take place on October 9 and 10, 2025, bringing together leading scholars, policymakers, and cultural practitioners to reflect on how memory policies are reshaping Europe—from Brussels to local communities.
The two-day event will spotlight the role of collective memory in defending civil rights and strengthening democracy, at a time when the legacies of the past are increasingly contested in the public sphere.
