Red stockings are pioneers of the feminist movement in Iceland. In the 1970s, they crucified a dummy of a tired housewife on a Christmas tree, brought a live cow to a beauty queen contest, or initiated a mass women's strike across the country. So in October 1975, Iceland found out what happens when women leave their homes and jobs and take a day off. The humorous and serious statements of the strikers, interspersed with Joel Orloff's animations and the final composition by Bjōrk, give cathartic testimony about civic awakening and the power of a collective voice that can change society.
Admission €6/5.
