About event
On Sunday, November 3, from 4 p.m., come to the House of Art to say goodbye to the exhibition Darkness, which we are talking about, which will be the last time you will be guided by the author Maud Kotasová and the curator Terezie Petišková.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
< br/>The center of Maud Kotas' new exhibition is a set of nine embroidered, perforated, printed and otherwise creatively modified workers' wardrobes. The author's interventions are inspired by real inscriptions, drawings or stickers that the workers wrote in the lockers, but also by the poetry she was just reading, texts collected in the exterior of the city and overheard statements that caught her attention while she was working on the set - we can find here, for example, a quote of a soldier returning from Russian captivity: "A basic human need is a cream cake".
It is possible to think about what exactly factory locker rooms appealed to Kotas: "Sheet lockers are a synonym for a depersonalized industrial way of working and a reference to the social ghettos that are part of our society. Their decoration bears the signs of authentic, untrained creativity, strong in its message," explains exhibition curator Terezie Petišková.
The exhibition also includes the installation Hell, for which the author was inspired by the fresco of the inferno from the Bucharest church of St. George. The artist used her theme for the first time in 2022, when in Romania she embroidered an entire tin container with allusions to this temple painting.
