Uncertain Homes
The Concept of the Exhibition: Alba D'Arbano, Ina Bierstedt Two of these institutions have the word "house" and the diversity of paintings and meanings of "house-collection" in contemporary art has become one of the cornerstones of this project. It was initiated by Italian curator and multimedia artist album D´Arbano and German painter and curator Ina Bielstedt. The exhibition was first introduced in January this year in Berlin, now it can be seen in Brno and in 2026 will take place in the Roman Museo Bilotti. There are various art media from sculptures, spatial installations, objects and paintings to videos and photos. However, it is also remarkable is a wide range of content that this universal, ancient topic is currently brought. In Berlin, the concept of the exhibition responded to the character of the Haus Kunst Mitte building, located in a former apartment building. In Brno he works with a generous and aesthetically strong space of the House of Arts and the history of the local architecture. At the exhibition we encounter parts that thematize home and uncertainty, the intimate sphere working with the human body as Quasidomov for the soul.

The exhibition refers to the thesis of the "living space" of Franz Xavier Baier The concept is also based on the text of Gaston Bachelard Poetics of the space, expressing the author's assumption that the feeling of home does not necessarily associate with a specific object, environment or place to overnight, but rather with creating emotional ties to some place or cultural space. This can arise - and be inhabited - literally happy space. Both artists together with their students created a groundbreaking installation that thematized and revealed the stereotypical role of women. The curator chose a work that works with the established, allegedly biologically determined connection between "home" and "woman" that formulated and consolidated during industrialization. Or a work that thematizes gender -based violence affecting mostly women in the private sphere, ie in areas that should offer them safety and security. It was also inspired by the text of Virginia Woolf, who in her 1929 essay revealed the daily disadvantage of women, emphasizing the importance of her own room, which she considered to be as important to develop the creative spirit as financial and intellectual independence. They point to our vulnerability and existential interconnection with the surrounding environment as well as the archetypal image of the body as - a transitional - dwelling of the soul. At the uncertain home exhibition, artists and artists are engaged in a comprehensive issue of the sustainable habitation of the world and try to draw attention to the potential of change. Their works include a wide spectrum: they illuminate both external structures such as planning and construction, and a sphere of intimacy, home or safety. The exhibition also includes works that touch traumatic experiences and their transmission across generations or sadness of the impossibility of returning. They point out that the absence of a natural sense of safety and background in a private, known space is a life reality for many people. After all, the inner and external appearance of the Brno House of Arts from the very beginning of the co -creation of the political constellation. The art solution of the exhibition, carried by a color concept designed specifically in its halls, takes into account this fact.

Housing is the basic existential need for every person. Each of us can relate to this thesis with our own experience and dive into the number of memories that artists and artists activate with the exhibition.

Viscera domus Poříčí, which includes several spacious studios for students of art education and comfortable relaxing background for students and their teachers with views of greenery. In the Jaroslav Král Gallery, the visitor will enter the experimentally designed architectural labyrinth of Michal Palaščak, built from the basic, already used building materials. The installation provides a framework for Helena Lukášová's paintings, projected on a holographic canvas and stretched into light boxes. Its works evoke the biological structure - painting exposed tissue caused by computer manipulation. The authors are to lead viewers through the corridor with views and vistas that offer the maximum experience of the architectural solution of the experimental installation of introduced works, and show the house not as a utilitarian thing, but an organism living in symbiosis with man. Accessible. At the same time, the start of the house, the drama, romance or mystery in architecture, has no place to have a place. Palaščak decided to show the viewers one house in a way of commemorating the skeletal system with muscle mass or organs. And one rewards himself with a sense. "
Rostislav Koryčánek, curator of the exhibition.
