About event
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek return to Melkweg. In 2024, the group enchanted during a sold-out first edition of Kaynaş Club - this time they are in our OZ with their new album 'Yarın Yoksa'. Multi-instrumentalist Derya Yıldırım, who grew up in Hamburg, learned to play the bağlama – a seven-string Turkish lute – from her father. This year she released the album 'Yarın Yoksa' (loosely translated: If there is no tomorrow) with the international company Grup Şimşek. Derya continues her mission to breathe new life into Anatolian folk music and instruments, by interweaving timeless melodies with a modern psychedelic flow. The new album balances between preservation and innovation, and contains nine original compositions and three traditional folk songs.
