About event

Why do women on TV always wear dress size 38? Why do they disappear from the screen after 50 and only then come back as grandma actresses? Why are her salaries so much lower than those of her male colleagues?
The actress Gesine Cukrowski, born in Berlin in 1968 and known for decades for her roles in films and television series (e.g. “The Last Witness” together with Ulrich bother), asks these questions and knows the answers from her own experience - and she rebels against them. With her criticism of the system behind the glamor facade, she doesn't just make friends in the film and television industry. Together with the journalist Silke Burmester, she launched the “Let’s Chance the Picture” initiative, which campaigns for greater visibility of older women in the film and television business. Because visibility is power, she knows that from her own life.
In this sense, Gesine Cukrowski is also involved in development policy with Welthungerhilfe for women in Uganda

Now she has written a book in which she shows the way out of the cliché trap and tells what her own origins, her childhood and family history have to do with her energy and fearlessness. The title says it all: “Sorry Tarzan, I’m saving myself!”
