About event
What happens when we let machines do our thinking? Roberto Simanowski, the Tractatus Prize-winning media philosopher, asks the question that concerns us all in his brand new book "Language Machines": Are ChatGPT and Co. getting used to thinking? His provocative thesis: The language machine doesn't know what it says - it only knows that it has been said often. Simanowski reveals how AI convinces us to have views we don't have and how digital convenience turns into intellectual incapacitation. Why are chatbots “obstruction librarians” blocking our way to books? Who are the secret do-gooders educating our AI systems? An intellectual provocation that shows: First we shape our language machines, then they shape us. A reading about the creeping incapacitation in the age of artificial intelligence - and why we urgently need to learn to ask: "But you can also see this completely differently."
