Michaela Burawoy and Slovak (and Czech) sociology,

organized by the Department of Sociology of the FIF UK, Methodological Section of SS SAS and Sociology Institute of SAS, v. in. I.

We organize the seminar as a platform for reminding and reflection of important aspects of the work and work of Michael Burawoy, a key personality of world sociology, who tragically died in February this year. For many years, Michael Burawoy has worked at the University of California in Berkeley and formed thinking, attitudes to the world and society of several generations of sociologists around the world. The aim of the seminar is to encourage interest in studying and developing his theoretical ideas, methodological innovations, and last but not least, its active relationship with society and the world as a public intellectual. Sociologists will perform at the seminar who offer a reflection of his arguments across several thematic circuits. i.): Burawoy in Slovak factories: How to explore capitalist production and workers' experience today? Research: Burawoy on the division of sociological work and public sociology
