Food & identity

What does food say about who you are? Which flavors and scents do you remind you of home? From comfort food to family recipes - eating touches to who we are, where we come from and how we feel at home. It is inextricably linked to history, memories, upbringing and identity. For many within the Asian diaspora, food is a source of pride and connectedness; It forms you and tells something about your background, family and place in the world. At the same time, it often touches on how others see us: as if our identity can be reduced to what is on our plate. Food can also sand: shame about what was in your lunch box, or frustration about eating habits that are seen as "strange". How do we deal with adjustment, explain whether you feel different at the table?

During this edition of the dim sum sessions we explore, accompanied by and with Dymphie and with Dymphie and with DIMPRE> and with DIMPREN> and and with Jestrong> and and with Je: Huang , the intersection of food and identity. We eat together. We share stories. And we ask questions about flavors that have shaped us, cultural expectations at the table, and the ways in which food connects us or makes us clash with our environment. An evening full of memories, insights and new perspectives, while enjoying Dim Sum and Tea.
