About event
Dirk Somers founded the office Bovenbouw Architectuur in 2011, which soon achieved international renown. A wide repertoire of public buildings, a playful aesthetic and an emphasis on sustainability make the studio one of the most distinctive among progressive Belgian studios. Dirk Somers also teaches at TU Delft and is a professor at the Technical University of Ghent, regularly publishes in print media.
At his first lecture in Prague, he will present a cross-section of the studio's work with an emphasis on buildings for education and buildings for recycling:
“The lecture will guide you through a heterogeneous series of projects that are developed by associative thinking. Historical precedents mix up with everyday references, generating designs that aspire a densely layered and surprising character."
The lecture will be held in English and will take place in the newly opened space of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague - Ava Veletržní.
