About event
Five musicians from different musical worlds, in which folklore is combined with electronics, elements of ambient and classical music. The result is a varied palette of sound - authentic songs in which captivating folk tunes complement unconventional musical compositions.
At the end of April 2022, the band released their debut EP hrajžemi. Their work was heard several times on Slovak radio stations and during the past two years they played many concerts in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, while in 2024 they also performed in clubs and festivals in Austria and Hungary. Among the band's most recent achievements is the inclusion of their song "poet" in the evening show Wo' Pop with Darek Mazzone, broadcast on the American KEXP radio.
In 2023, the band received 2 final nominations from expert Slovak and foreign juries at the prestigious Rádia_FM - Radio_Head Awards in the genre categories of world music and folk music. In addition to the success at the Radio_Head Awards, the song "hrajžemi" was included in the selection CD compilation - Best of World music from Slovakia 2019/2023, prepared by WOMUSK. Their EP also entered the Top 20 albums of October's World Music Charts Europe (WMCE) album chart, finishing at number 17. Within the WMCE ranking of the best 200 albums for 2023, the EP was ranked 74th.
The year 2024 is also successful for the band in terms of showcases. The band got the opportunity to present their work at RITMO BUDAPEST and at Czech Music CROSSROADS in Ostrava, where they won the Czech Music Crossroads Professional Award 2024 (the band's performance at the Colors of Ostrava 2025 festival is part of the award). In September, the international showcase WAVES VIENNA awaits them.
The DIS IS MARKĒTA band consists of:
Martina Kertészová (vocals),
Martina Janegová (piano),
Lukáš Bujdák (guitar),
Roman Stražanec (cello),
