About event
Come to the twenty-third meeting of the Discovery College in Trnava with the theme: "Born into poverty: doomed to stay?" psychologist
Filip Strechay - peer lecturer
What exactly does DISCOVERY COLLEGE mean?
It is a modern method of education and "discovery" in the topics of MENTAL HEALTH and WELL-BEING, focused on YOUNG PEOPLE (15-24), implemented in community settings.
Its principles follow on from recovery academies/schools, which are part of modern community mental health services in the world. They are a space where all participants come together to talk about mental health topics together to learn together and from each other. The source of mutual learning is personal experience as well as professional expertise. Practical experiential learning is tailored to all participants, therefore each course and each college is unique.
It provides a safe space for sharing, personal vulnerability and discomfort, conversations about important and challenging topics related to mental health. Each participant's opinions and experiences are valued.
"DC is basically an open classroom. An open classroom where there are guides at the front, but everyone in the room is a teacher in that environment and everyone is a student."
