🟡 Kseniia Opria (UA), editor-in-chief of the catalog of documentary films for the DOCUDAYS UA International Festival
), director and screenwriter
🎥 FRAGMENTS OF ICE (Maria Stoianova, 2024, 95 min.)
The film is a gentle testimony of the political desire for freedom. The father of the director of the film Maria Stoianová was a figure skater in the Soviet-Ukrainian "Ballet on Ice". In 1986, he acquired a camera and began documenting his travels in the West, as well as his family life. The director weaves these nostalgic images and comments into a fascinating essay about memory and our ability to capture it in images.
The event will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation into Slovak. A small snack will be prepared for the guests of the event.
Entrance is free. To reserve a place, choose a zero ticket: bit.ly/4hnlbIj
SoliDARE is a project of two partners, Kina Úsmev and the cultural institution Hnat Khotkevych Palace of Culture, which is based in Lviv, Ukraine. The main idea of the project was to support cultural exchange, build an audience, share best practices and present the work of Ukrainian filmmakers in Central Europe.
The SoliDARE project is implemented by CINEFIL with the support of the IZOLYATSIA Foundation, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlin and is co-financed by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program, which was established with the support of the European Union as part of a special call for proposals to support Ukrainian displaced persons and the Ukrainian cultural and creative sector.
