About event
Eastern Slovakia is more traditional and conservative than the traditional and conservative Slovakia that we hear about from government chairs, parliamentary benches or pulpits. The majority of Easterners and Easterners vote for parties that boast of hateful rhetoric towards LGBTI+ people and compete to see who tramples their human rights the most.
How do LGBTI+ people live in families, communities and collectives? which are permeated with homo negative narratives? How much courage does coming-out and open life in the East require? They will share their personal (and fun) experiences:
Róbert Furiel, native of Spišská Nová Ves and founder of Saplinq, Fr. z., which has been fighting for the equal rights of LGBTI+ people for more than 10 years, and
Alex Michelčík, originally from the Tatras and currently from Gelnice, who is dedicated to drag and co-organizes community meetings in the counseling and community center for LGBTI+ people Prizma in Košice.
Lukáš Závatský, from Košice, who works in the IT sector and with his openness contributes to spreading awareness about the lives of transgender people.
The discussion will be led by Petra Kmecová, who together with her two daughters and her partner lives in Vranov nad Topľou.
DJ Enby - a novelty on the Bratislava scene - will take care of the musical program after the discussion. He plays hardstyle Y2K & pop for "girls, gays and theys".
We look forward to seeing you.
